Founded in 1915, Webster University is a private university located in Webster Groves, Missouri offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a fantastic student experience. With over one hundred years of heritage in delivering high quality education, the university upholds excellent teaching standards and runs a progressive and forward thinking curriculum.

  Webster University is comprised of five academic departments, offering an impressive portfolio of courses spanning many subject areas, including science and healthcare, liberal arts, teacher education, fine and performing arts, business and management. Students benefit from small class sizes, which increases the contact time with tutors and lectures, and includes a lot of individual attention. The university is home to around 10,000 full-time students, who form a diverse and close-knit community representing over 120 countries worldwide.

  The main campus is located in the leafy suburbs of St. Louis. It has beautiful brick-built architecture, furnished with modern facilities and teaching technologies, and a variety of purpose-designed spaces for study, socialising and refreshment.

  Webster University is a globally-minded institution, with an additional city campus in the US for international students in Orlando, Florida. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered at both campuses, and some courses are also available online. Additionally, there is an expanded network of seven further Webster University international campuses, spanning four continents.

  

What's new

In the most recent US News and World Report college rankings, Webster University has received excellent assessment results across a number of metrics, and has solidified its position as a top Midwestern institution, with an increasingly global outlook.

  In the 2021 edition of the report, Webster University was ranked 15th in the Midwest, and 1st in the St. Louis area, a position it has now held for 11 consecutive years.

  The university was also rated well for ethnic and economic diversity, affordability, study abroad opportunities, faculty resources, and military friendliness.

  This year, diversity and inclusion continues to be a key mission of the university. In Fall of 2021, the university's worldwide network includes students from 138 different nationalities, with 80 new students at the Webster Groves campus, representing 35 countries. International students enroll at the university for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with particular interest in MBA programs, cybersecurity, information management, international relations and communications.

  Webster University in Orlando, Florida is also building their international communities, with a goal of providing opportunity and promoting cultural diversity. Almost 90 per cent of the university's international students have taken opportunities to establish career connections with regional businesses and employment providers in St. Louis, and other areas within the USA.

  

Teaching quality

Webster University is the highest-ranked institution in the St. Louis area, and since its foundation over 100 years ago, it has built a reputation for international excellence and a very high standard of teaching.

  The teaching faculty is staffed by an international team of educators who are highly qualified and experienced. Many have held professional and teaching positions overseas and are expert communicators able to connect with students from all backgrounds. The university also has an exceptionally good staff to student ratio of 1:9, ensuring students have a large amount of personal contact with tutors.

  Webster University is an internationally-focused institution, and its Study Abroad program is ranked in the top 2 percent of the universities surveyed in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report, ''America's Best Colleges''. This rating recognizes courses which include significant interaction between the student and the culture, and substantial academic work for credit.

  The university makes use of a number of state-of-the-art teaching technologies, and an effective use of online resources to provide a varied and interactive education format. 100 per cent of courses involve a hands-on work experience component, which ensures that Webster graduates have both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to succeed.

College of Arts & Sciences

Students are taught by an expert faculty, with a firm focus on analytical and experimental work, technological discovery and intellectual rigor. With over 120 undergraduate and graduate courses on offer, students learn how to think critically, and understand the world around them. Webster University's impressive business school prepares its students for competitive careers in an increasingly globalized economy. The school employs a student-centered approach, and incorporates real-world experience into the curriculum to ensure that students have the necessary experience to succeed. Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts

Webster University believes that art can be an expression of our deepest values, and can provide a connection between communities and cultures. Departments include a nationally recognized theatre program, music and dance schools, and an academy of fine art.

  

School of Communications

Communication is the currency of the future, and Webster's future-focused curriculum combines practice and theory, while promoting a global learning experience. Students learn skills-based courses which lead to qualifications which can take them anywhere in the world.

  

School of Education

Webster's School of Education has received accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for over a decade. With an average class size of ten, students get an intensive education with a huge amount of support and preparation to become the teachers of tomorrow.

  

Entry requirements

Each year, Webster University welcomes a new cohort of first-year students from all over the world. The university has a growing international community, who apply to the university to position themselves for success, and to experience life at one of the two US campuses in St. Louis and Orlando.

  Webster is a moderately selective university, with a 2020 acceptance rate of 67 per cent. Admission requirements vary on a course-by-course basis, however students will need to submit a copy of their official transcript from their place of previous study. Those who have completed previous studies must submit a copy of their diploma or certificate, and if the documents are not in English, then a professional, literal translation must also be included.

  International applicants to both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses may also need to submit evidence of English-language proficiency. The minimum requirements for undergraduate students are scores of 6.0 for IELTS, 550 (PBT)/80 (iBT) for TOEFL, or 53 for the Pearsons Test. Minimum requirements for postgraduate applicants are slightly higher, with scores of 6.5 for IELTS, 575 (PBT)/80 (iBT) for TOEFL, or 53 for the Pearsons Test.

  Students who do not meet the English language requirements have the option to study an English as a Second Language (ESL) course before starting their degree in order to reach the required level.

Facilities

Webster University's campus community has a fantastic range of facilities, services and technologies at their disposal. The campus has charming buildings and historic architecture, surrounded by open green spaces and wide tree-lined walkways with areas dedicated to socializing, health and well-being, as well as creative exploration.

  The university has a great cultural scene, with live music events, film festivals and even a professional theater company on campus - The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis - which issues discounted student tickets to performances.

  The university has an excellent sports culture, and fosters a lively athletics community who train in state-of-the-art facilities. These facilities are available to all students, whether for competitive or recreational reasons, and the university promotes health and fitness opportunities for all. Webster participates in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and has competitive teams in volleyball, softball, soccer, track, athletics, basketball, baseball, tennis and cheerleading.

  The campus also has accommodation for up to 700 students, with fully furnished housing options including social lounges and study spaces, all within a 5-minute walk to class.

  There has been major investment in course-specific resources and technologies, with industry-standard equipment in the university's science laboratories and healthcare centers. The main library is home to a huge number of books, journals and digital resources, as well as hundreds of individual and group study spaces and IT support. There is free and fast WiFi throughout campus, and many options for refreshments, with coffee shops, and cafes on-site.
