  With more than 270 undergraduate and graduate programs, 13 different colleges and students from more than 80 different countries, UToledo is both diverse and welcoming.

UToledo combines a beautiful campus of modern amenities and historic charm in one of Toledo's best residential neighborhoods, with an affordable, medium-sized metropolitan city nearby.

  The city of Toledo not only provides many internship and job opportunities at large and small businesses, but ample options for having fun with friends outside the classroom.

  From the Toledo Museum of Art and the Toledo Zoo to local sports, outdoor activities, a thriving live music scene and more, Toledo offers activities for any interest.

  Toledo is also near to several major cities, including Chicago (four hours west), Detroit (one hour north), Indianapolis (three and a half hours southwest) and even Toronto (five hours northeast). Transportation is close and affordable - with a nearby airport, train station and bus services to take students all over the city and beyond.

  #29 for General Management #37 for Human Resource Management #44 for MarketingThe University of Toledo's College of Engineering is one of eight schools in the nation to have three co-op experiences built into the bachelor's degree curriculum. By graduation, UToledo engineers have over one year of paid experience.

  Engineering students and faculty are also involved in nationally recognized research, including a grant from NASA to investigate how spacecraft can use solar energy for missions to the moon and Mars. Many of the college's faculty are working with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where they'll contribute towards NASA's goal of more electrical power and exploratory devices on Mars.

  Astronomy and astrophysics have been continually recognized as areas of research excellence at UToledo. Today, astronomers graduating from UToledo are leading innovation in the galaxy and beyond.

  A doctoral student and professor duo are studying basic life functions at the molecular level, using protein crystals prepared by UToledo researchers and grown at the International Space Station. Also, a husband-and-wife faculty duo used NASA's Hubble telescope to discover a new way to understand galaxy evolution.

  Business students at UToledo gain insight and experience into the world of finance through the Neff Trading Room - one of only 30 of its kind in the U.S. UToledo students manage a USD 3.6 million portfolio that continues to grow.

  

Teaching quality

UToledo's emphasis on discovery and innovation has led to more than USD 65 million in research funding from government and private industries in the last year alone.

  Research provides students with in-depth experiences to collaborate with professors that can lead to greater mastery of their fields of study, or even become graduate researchers or teaching assistants.

  Through the Office of Undergraduate Research, students can find practical experience relevant to their interests in virtually all programs. In addition to volunteer positions, many research experiences provide tuition credits, stipends or grants.

  Aside from research, students can expand upon their classroom-built knowledge through internships and co-ops. Many programs have internship and co-op experiences built into the curriculum.

  Programs are taught by passionate faculty who are experts in their fields. They support students throughout their studies as well as engage in the university's groundbreaking research. With a 21:1 student-to-faculty ratio, UToledo classes provide numerous opportunities for focused attention from professors - of which, more than 79 percent are full time faculty members.

At UToldeo, there are more than 270 programs for students to choose from - with bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctoral degrees and professional certificate options, there is a wide selection on offer. As a major research university, the campus is divided into academic colleges and programs are structured under the college where their discipline resides:

Entry requirements

Below are the general requirements for international students applying to The University of Toledo. Some colleges and programs have additional requirements. International students who do not meet the language requirements can take the intensive English language program.

Scholarships & funding

More than 93 percent of undergraduate international students at UToledo receive a scholarship. All new students are considered for an award when they apply and are admitted to the university - no additional scholarship application is needed.

  

International Scholar Tuition Rate

First-time international freshmen students can qualify for in-state tuition plus USD 100 per semester if they have a GPA of 3.5 or higher – saving more than USD 9,000 per academic year!

  

International Rocket Award

Eligible freshmen and transfer international students with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49 may receive an award of USD 7,500, while transfer students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher at the time of admission can receive USD 8,500.

  

Sister Cities Award

International students from Toledo's sister cities pay a special tuition rate - the same rate paid by Ohio residents, plus only a small surcharge of USD 100 each semester.

  Students must have a permanent address in one of the specified cities or regions when applying to the university. This includes:

Facilities

Campus life

At UToledo, students are able to enjoy every part of what makes the college experience special. Whether that's relaxing with friends in the residence hall lounges, game rooms or Thompson Student Union. Students can engage in the many on-campus cultural experiences, such as concerts, plays, film screenings and visiting lecturers.

  Outside of schoolwork, students can become leaders before leaving campus. They can get involved in one of more than 400 student-led organizations on campus, or start one themselves. This will give them the opportunity to find other like-minded students who are eager to get involved.

  Many of UToledo's international students have established campus organizations that share the joys of their culture and foster mutual understanding with fellow students.

  The Student Rec Center features modern fitness equipment, indoor track, Olympic-sized swimming pool, group classes, climbing wall and outdoor courts. Admission is free to all UToledo students.

  Students can cheer on the varsity athletic teams (UToledo is a member of the Division I Mid-American Conference), including men's and women's basketball, soccer, football and more. Admission to all home events is free. Compete in club and intramural sports at all proficiency levels, including football, American football, basketball, tennis, ice hockey, sailing and more.

  Fueling their creative talents in theatrical and musical performances, or fine art shows, is also an option. Many theater productions and musical groups are open to students from all majors.
