The University of Bath has been recognised as one of the top universities in the world, having been ranked 148th out of 1,300 universities around the world in the QS World University Rankings 2023. It is also in the top 100 of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.

92% of the University of Bath research submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 achieved the two highest classifications of ‘world leading' or ‘internationally excellent'.

Teaching
The University of Bath's diverse teaching methods provide students with real-world experience. Courses are research-driven and specifically designed to meet industry needs and requirements. To ensure graduates have the best career opportunities, students are encouraged to be innovative in their approach to study and make a positive impact on society. Bath's learning model comprises a blend of campus-based study and structured independent work, with an online component throughout. These are carefully designed to meet the needs of each course. Ensuring that learning is worked through in practice is a key feature of study at Bath.
Campus study includes an engaging programme of weekly lectures, seminars, classes and workshops, while the online elements of a Bath degree course include interactive learning sessions as well as group and individual assignments. As it looks ahead, the University's aim is to offer students the best possible learning experience in an ever-changing world. It will continue to improve students' teaching and learning experience, enabling them to gain valuable skills and understanding that is sought after by employers in a modern, global workplace.

Pre-sessional and foundation courses
International applicants who don't meet Bath's English language requirements can attend a pre-sessional course. The pre-sessional course helps students prepare to pursue degree-level studies though improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
The University also runs an International Foundation Year for international students who don't meet the academic requirements of an undergraduate course. Delivered by the University's partner institution, Bath College, this full-time course lasts one year. Once completed, students can directly progress onto their chosen course subject to the entry requirements.
Entry requirements
International applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. These requirements are in place to ensure students can cope with and benefit from their chosen academic course.
English language requirements vary across the university's departments and are grouped into four categories - A, B, C and D. English language proficiency requirements at the University of Bath are generally a minimum of:
IELTS – minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0 TOEFL iBT – minimum overall score of 90 with no section band below 21The University of Bath also accepts other language tests, and applicants must achieve equivalent results. Tests must have been taken within the 24 to 30 months prior to the intended course start date.
Because requirements are course-dependent, international students are encouraged to check the conditions of the specific course they're interested in.
Scholarships & funding
International students can apply for a range of scholarships to support them with their studies. This includes:
Chancellor's Scholarship
A tuition fee waiver worth up to GBP 2,000 is available for first year international students who demonstrate academic excellence.
Deans Award for Academic Excellence Scholarship
A tuition fee waiver worth GBP 5,000 is awarded to eligible international students studying for a master's degree at the University. Applicants need to demonstrate strong academic credentials and background of achievement and success.
Global Leaders Scholarship
A grant of GBP 5,000 is awarded for international master's degree students who demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The award is a tuition fee waiver and requires that the recipients will also showcase leadership potential.
International Baccalaureate 50th Anniversary Scholarship
Up to GBP 8,000 tuition fee waiver for first-year international students who demonstrate academic excellence in the IB.
Winning Women in Technology Scholarship
Ten female students who accept a paid industrial placement at J.P. Morgan's technology department as a software engineer will receive this scholarship. It is valued at GBP 3,000 for each year of study up to three years (excluding the placement year).
Facilities
Over the past decade, the University of Bath has invested over GBP 450 million in a range of high-quality facilities for its main campus. This includes a GBP 10.9 million arts and management building, and a GBP 30 million Sports Training Village. Students can take a tour through one of the University's virtual open days.

Accommodation
The University provides international students with well-designed and comfortable accommodation, both on-campus and within the city. There is a range of housing options to suit individual budgets and lifestyles, including students with disabilities and medical conditions.
Sport
Students can join one of 50 sports clubs run by the SU. Each club welcomes new members, whether they are a beginner or a professional. All students can access the sports training village, which hosts a gym, sports and fitness centre, coaching, physiotherapy, and sport science services.
