The new Jefferson was established on July 1, 2017, as a result of the merger of two renowned universities, Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University. It is a distinctive national university focused on setting a new standard for 21st-century professional education. As the world and society continue to evolve, Jefferson continues to lead and to provide students with unparalleled value. The university offers majors across an array of disciplines, including Architecture, Business, Design, Engineering, Fashion and Textiles, Health, Medicine, Science and Social Science.
Thomas Jefferson University's buildings range from historic Victorian mansions to contemporary classroom, library and residential facilities. In 2013, the new home to Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce was completed. The Kanbar Campus Center, a 72,000 square foot hub for students, faculty and staff, the Center for Sustainability, Energy Efficiency and Design, and the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center, have transformed the main campus and had a dramatic impact on the academic and social environment of the University.
In addition, students benefit from more than 20 laboratories and studios for hands-on experience in architecture and interior design, engineering, textile design, fashion design, graphic design and industrial design, as well as biology, chemistry, physics and computer technologies.
Jefferson campuses are incubators, tradition breakers and beautiful places to learn. They cross the city and the suburbs. From their vibrant Center City campus to their East Falls grounds and beyond, each location offers a unique learning environment to experience all that is Jefferson. The campuses are about 15 minutes apart and give students the best of both worlds.
