New ONCAMPUS partnership at Aston University

It's an exciting time for international students to join ONCAMPUS Aston, as they will be part of its first cohort.

  ONCAMPUS Aston is one of the newest additions to the ONCAMPUS group, providing many opportunities to international students. It means more students can access the university's excellent teaching and support while transitioning to university life in the UK. Aston is renowned for its focus on employability, as all students benefit from invaluable industry placements and work experiences.

  Aston University was recently named University of the Year (Guardian, 2020), demonstrating its excellence in teaching, student satisfaction and graduate outcomes, as well as a commitment to employability, diversity and sustainability.

  

iCAS now available

iCAS – the integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies – ensures that international students at ONCAMPUS Aston don't have to reapply for a visa after completing their pathway programmes. They can progress directly to university-level study without having to extend their student visas.

  

ONCAMPUS Aston programmes that qualify are:

Undergraduate Foundation Programme in Engineering Undergraduate Foundation Programme in Business International Year One Master's Foundation Programmes in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering and HumanitiesiCAS also allows students to take on up to 20 hours of paid employment each week.

Department structure

ONCAMPUS Aston programmes provide a pathway for international students. They are designed for those who can't quite meet the entry requirements for direct entry to Aston University. After a pathway programme, students have access to various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the university.

  Successfully complete a pathway and students have guaranteed progression to a degree-level programme at Aston University.

Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP)

Those who successfully complete the UFP can progress onto the first year of an undergraduate degree at Aston. The UFP lasts one year/three terms. An extended four-term programme is also available.

  

International Year One (IY1)

Students who successfully complete the programme can progress onto the second year of degree-level study at Aston. The IY1 lasts one year/three terms.

  

Master's Foundation Programme (MFP)

The MFP lasts one year/three terms. Students who successfully complete the programme can progress on top of a master's programme at Aston University.

  

ONCAMPUS Aston Graduate Diploma

The Graduate Diploma lasts one year/three terms. Students who successfully complete the programme can progress onto a range of specified Business postgraduate degrees at Aston University.

  

Entry requirements

Students need a good understanding of the English language to study at ONCAMPUS Aston. However, they receive support for the development of their language skills throughout the programme.

  

Undergraduate Foundation Programme

For the three-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 4.5 (with no band lower than 4.0) or an accepted equivalent. For the extended four-term programme, students take an extra English language module.

  

International Year One

For the three-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 5.5 (with no band lower than 5.5) or an accepted equivalent. For the four-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 5.0 (with no band lower than 5.0) or an accepted equivalent.

  

Master's Foundation Programme

For the three-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 5.0 (with no band lower than 5.0) or an accepted equivalent. For the extended four-term programme, students take an extra English language module.

  Master's students also need to have successfully completed a degree at bachelor's level, or equivalent, from a recognised institution.

  

ONCAMPUS Aston Graduate Diploma

For the three-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 5.5 (with no band lower than 5.5) or an accepted equivalent. For the extended four-term programme, students need an IELTS score of 5.0 (with no band lower than 5.0) or an accepted equivalent.

  

Scholarship & funding

Due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, programmes are now as flexible as possible. Students have the option to start either online or in-person and travel to campus when they're ready.

  ONCAMPUS Aston programmes include a GBP 300 registration fee. Students must also pay a GBP 2,200 deposit which is deducted from the last term's fees.

  Depending on the subject and level of study, students can expect to pay upwards of GBP 15,000 for a three-term programme. Tuition fees also vary depending on the length of the programme.

  Those under the age of 18 must pay a supplementary fee for extra support, as they are classed as minors. This is usually at a rate of GBP 575 or GBP 1,150, depending on when the student turns 18. The extra support is designed around younger students' wellbeing and safeguarding.

  

Facilities

Accommodation

International students can book safe and secure accommodation through ONCAMPUS Aston's free service. The two main residences, Bromsgrove House and Canalside are close to the campus and centre of Birmingham. Accommodation costs include utility bills and wifi.
