  The resources available to students at Miami University help to provide a strong platform for learning. While many will succeed at Miami - 97 percent of graduates will find work or further their education within six months - it is best suited to the ambitious and hardworking. Students driven to achieve the highest quality education will be given every tool to succeed at Miami University.

  International students are warmly welcomed, and there is a real sense of community at the university. Students from outside the US will find a diverse student body, excellent support services, and various scholarships tailored to international applicants.

  The campus is well maintained and equipped with everything students could need within easy reach. On-campus accommodations are available for all first- and second-year students, and abundant rental housing is available for upper class students in the surrounding community. A wide variety of dining and recreational facilities cater to essential and social needs.

  

What's new

Miami University is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its students. This includes the range of study programs it has to offer - with new degrees in cybersecurity, urban development, and game design joining the options available to those enrolling in Fall 2021.

  Facilities are constantly being improved, too. A new clinical health sciences and wellness facility will open its doors in 2023, and construction of a new data science facility will be completed in early 2024. In addition, a new indoor equestrian center opened in 2021.

  Miami's new Honors College, which is an evolution of the Honors Program, enrolled its first class in Fall 2021. The residential Honors College provides a wide variety of unique opportunities for top students, including individualized academic advising, access to research funding, and support in pursuit of national and international fellowships and awards.

  The university continues to adapt to COVID-19 to ensure continued student safety, with more support services offered to ensure all students have access to the education and resources they need even if the state enters further restrictions.

Department structure

The various degrees offered by Miami University are split across high-quality colleges and schools, each providing the necessary facilities and expert faculty to ensure all students have the best chance of success.

  The College of Arts and Science offers over 60 majors across the fields of physical and natural sciences, languages, social sciences and humanities, with 96 percent of CAS graduates in employment or further education within six months of completion of studies.

  The College of Creative Arts covers a wide range of creative subjects. The university's game design program, based in this college, is ranked No. 2 overall in the US and No. 1 for game art by Intelligent.com.

  The College of Education, Health, and Society offers world-class and award-winning majors that include social work, public health and various teaching disciplines. Undergraduates who wish to become a licensed classroom teacher can do so without a master's degree when choosing a four-year program at this college.

  Miami's College of Engineering and Computing ranks in the top 30 in the nation according to US News & World Report, with a variety of excellent degrees allowing students to tackle major global issues including energy and industrial problems.

  Ranked No. 2 among public universities in the US for internships and No. 3 for signature/international experience participation by Poets & Quants, the Farmer School of Business provides MBA-level resources for undergraduates. With a focus on experiential learning, the Farmer School provides students with every tool they need to enter the world of business fully prepared.

  The university also has a Graduate School, a College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science spread over the regional campuses, and the Miami University Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg.

  

Entry requirements

All students who apply to Miami University must meet certain criteria. For international applicants, this includes the provision of all academic records from secondary school studies (or equivalent), with proof of high school graduation required for acceptance.

  Students must also pay a non-refundable USD 70 application fee, and submit a letter of recommendation that can support an application.

  Students applying for a full degree must also demonstrate proficiency in the English language, as all course materials are provided in English. Various qualifications are accepted - as a guide, an average of 6.5 IELTS score is needed for direct admission, with a score of 5 acceptable for conditional admission on certain programs.

  Alternative conditional applications are available for students as part of an ESL study program, where students combine English language skills with foundation level work to gain entry into an undergraduate program upon completion.

  Any international students applying to Miami University must also demonstrate that they have the necessary funds to pay for one full year of full-time tuition and living costs - students who plan to enroll full time must provide financial verification indicating a balance of at least USD 58,664.

  

Facilities

The university's facilities are all maintained to a high standard, ensuring students have a well-rounded experience during their time enrolled. This includes housing, with various residence halls and apartments offering comfortable rooms where students can live in safety and peace, while developing close bonds with others.

  Students have access to a wide variety of dining locations, from buffet restaurants to multiple Starbucks locations. University meal plans are available to allow students to cover dining fees without having to worry about budgeting for daily food.

  Miami University has a thriving fraternity and sorority community, with various chapters available where students can learn values of service, community, and leadership. Modern brotherhood and sisterhood values are fun, safe, and enriching for all who choose to join.

  Recreation facilities include the Recreational Sports Center, with a sports course, a fitness center, and swimming pools ensuring a wide variety of activities are available. The university also has its own Goggin Ice Center with figure skating, ice hockey, and other activities offered.

  Various arts and culture initiatives are also available throughout the year, along with a rich and varied Division 1 athletics program that includes eight men's teams and 11 women's teams for intercollegiate competition.

  

Scholarships & funding

Students who need financial support during their time at Miami University or who simply want to keep the cost of tuition down, can apply for various scholarships to ease the burden. All students who apply for admission at the Oxford campus are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship awarded to first-year students, provided they apply before the set deadline.

  Scholarships are generally awarded based on certain criteria, including academic excellence, sporting ability, or other gifts, talents, or career aspirations. Dedicated scholarships for international students ensure that all applicants, regardless of their home country, are considered for international scholarships. Again, all first-year students who apply and meet the requirements for full admission are automatically considered, although separate applications are required for certain programs including the Presidential Fellows Program and the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship.
