About the course

If you?re proficient in more than one language in addition to English, the Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies will provide you with the skills and knowledge you?ll require to perform translation and interpreting in a range of institutional settings common to community and commercial translation and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas. This degree allows you to study in the following languages paired with English: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

  Acquire the skills necessary for a fast-changing marketplace

  Undertake extensive targeted practice in both translation and interpreting, and in the use of computer-assisted translation tools.

  Enhance your learning with industry-standard technology

  Study in translation and interpreting labs with the most up-to-date equipment, and language learning and translation software.

  Undertake industry-based practical experience

  Work directly with clients via practicum projects across a variety of settings, such as government and language-service providers.

  Sit relevant NAATI interpreting certification tests

How to apply

Entry requirements for Macquarie University

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, or AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent with one of:

  Performance in their non-related bachelor's degree of an MQ equivalent WAM of +65, or

  A recognised professional qualification in translation or interpreting, or

  One year (full-time equivalent) approved work experience

  Proficiency in one of the available languages, and

  For students whose first language is English, completion of an admission assessment

  IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each band. TOEFL iBT - 83.
