About the course
The mission of the Materials Science and Engineering M.S. program is to provide graduate education and research opportunities for students and professionals in the theoretical, experimental and analytical foundations of materials science, and in the engineering use, modification and application to the structures and products of the technological age. We expect that, as a student and/or graduate of the Materials Science and Engineering M.S. program, you will exhibit the following:
Students will excel in the academic study of principles of materials science and engineering, as well as research focuses they choose from a wide range of areas, such as electronic and photonic materials, particulate and nanomaterials, polymer and biomaterials and others.
Real-World Experience: Students will gain expertise in basic laboratory equipment and field techniques through on-campus opportunities at NJIT and the university?s distinguished research partnerships.
Communication and Collaboration: Students will effectively collaborate on research toward their thesis and may play a supporting role in the form of searching and preparing literature reviews based on research papers that are relevant to the topic of their thesis. Entry requirements for New Jersey Institute of Technology
Applicants are expected to have a baccalaureate degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil, or biomedical) or in physics or chemistry or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students with undergraduate degrees in biology or other STEM disciplines may also be admitted on condition that additional bridge courses may be required. International students must achieve a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 79 (internet-based). A quantitative section of GRE must be at the level approved by NCE.
The minimum score required is 79 for the Internet-based TOEFL exam, 213 for the computer-based TOEFL exam, or 550 for the paper-based TOEFL exam. A minimum score of 6.5 with no sub-score lower than 6.0 is required for the IELTS exam.
