About the course

The Master of Pharmacy offers an entry pathway to fast-track your career into the pharmacy profession. This course is an accredited and innovative coursework program designed to prepare you for all aspects of the pharmacy profession, including leadership in innovative and evidence-based practice.

  This course is designed for aspiring pharmacists who would like to be an integral part of the healthcare system and want to directly affect the lives and lifestyles of the people with whom they interact.

  The Master of Pharmacy is a postgraduate coursework degree that will prepare you for all aspects of the pharmacy profession, including leadership in innovative and evidence-based practice. Graduates from this course will be eligible to register with the Pharmacy Board of Australia after completing 1824 hours (one year) of supervised practical training and an Intern Training Program. You will complete core units in pharmacy, including professional practice and experiential placement, and a capstone unit in your final semester.

  The mandatory Work Integrated Learning program includes clinical placements which provide real-life opportunities for students to experience the roles that pharmacists play in contemporary healthcare environments. Clinical placements occur in both years of the Master of Pharmacy degree. By the completion of the Master of Pharmacy course, students will have been exposed to a wide variety of practice settings, including community pharmacy and hospital settings, in a range of different geographical locations where demographically diverse patients access healthcare . How to apply

Entry requirements for The University of Sydney

To be eligible to apply for the Master of Pharmacy applicants will need to fulfill the following criteria:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an Australian institution or equivalent

  2. A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA), currently 5.0 over 7.0 (equivalent to 65% at USYD), or Graduate Australian Medical Admissions Test (GAMSAT), currently 55 with 50 in each section, or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), currently 8 (previous test version) / 500 (new test version).

  3. 48 credit points, or equivalent, in six prerequisite subjects at university level (candidates can enrol in the course with 12 credit points of prerequisite subjects outstanding as long as these units of study are completed by the end of the first year of the Master of Pharmacy.):

  TOEFL-IBT- A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 22 in Writing

  IELTS score- A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.5 in each band

  TOEFL - PBT score- A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 5.0 in Writing
