About the course

We look critically at the differing political and ethical claims on childhood and youth that inform contemporary policy and practice.

  You’ll explore new and original ways of thinking about and working with children and young people. Through the course, you’ll learn to:

  communicate effectively with child- and youth-focused professionals

  carry out empirical research with children and young people

  transfer your analytical, writing and other skills to the workplace.

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Sussex

You should normally have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above, or be able to demonstrate the ability to study at the appropriate level.

  Your undergraduate degree can be in any subject. Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis, and in certain circumstances you may be accepted on to the course if you can demonstrate the ability to study at the appropriate level. You may be accepted on to the course if you have equivalent professional qualifications and/or professional experience. We particularly welcome applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential, enthusiasm and commitment to study.

  IELTS (Academic) Higher level (7.0 overall, including at least 6.5 in each component).

  TOEFL (iBT) 95 overall, including at least 22 in Listening, 23 in Reading, 23 in Speaking, 24 in Writing.
