About the course

Our visual arts degree prepares you for the demands of a career in contemporary art, whether as an artist or in the many other roles within the art sector. Study visual arts and enjoy a student-centred and studio-based programme where you can follow your interests in art – including painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, sculpture or moving-image.

  As a graduate of our visual arts programme, you’ll have a sound understanding of the trends and concepts driving contemporary art, the importance of mātauranga Māori, and how to work collaboratively to produce objects, craft, images, taonga and artefacts. How to apply

Entry requirements for Auckland University of Technology

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher, or equivalent.

  TOEFL iBT - 90

  International Baccalaureate (IB) with successful completion of a minimum of 24 points.

  Cambridge International Examination - a minimum of 120 points on the UCAS Tariff* at A or AS level from any subjects which are broadly equivalent to the subjects in the NCEA approved subject list. Must include at least three subjects (excluding Thinking Skills) with grades D or above. Numeracy: A minimum grade of D in International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) mathematics or any mathematics subject at AS or A level. Literacy: A minimum grade of E in English Language and/or English Literature subject at AS or A level.

  General Certificate of Education (GCE) with three A-levels including at least one C gradeor better. A result in General Studies cannot be included among the 3 on which the application is based.
