About the course
To provide an opportunity for outstanding undergraduates to earn both the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and the Masters of Science (M.S.) degrees in Actuarial Science over the course of five years, with strong students graduating in as little as four years. This program is appropriate for students who wish to increase both the breadth and the depth of their knowledge by completing graduate level courses in probability, statistics, and finance, and by gaining firsthand research experience in actuarial science. Our department is a diverse community engaged in areas of education and research including Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics, Theoretical Statistics, Applied Probability, and Biostatistics, this research spans a wide range of interdisciplinary fields including environmental science, computer science, and biomedical science. We are home to the Center for Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Research, an interdisciplinary research center providing leadership in quantitative finance. Entry requirements for University of California - Santa Barbara
Freshman applicants are students who have:
Completed their secondary education and have earned a certificate of completion which enables them to be admitted to a
university in their home country
Never been enrolled as a university student
Take the ACT with Writing Test, SAT with Writing or SAT with Essay by December of your last year at secondary school
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination:
Internet-based test (iBT): Minimum score of 80 or better
Paper-based test (completed prior to Oct. 2017): Minimum score of 550 or better
Revised paper-delivered test (completed Oct. 2017 or later): Minimum score of 60 or better
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination (academic modules): Accepted with a 6.5 or better
band score (academic modules).
