About the course
The Bachelor of Science degree in statistics provides a variety of options for students wishing to study statistics. The program prepares graduates for careers as applied statisticians in government, business, and industry. Those students interested in further study beyond the bachelor?s level may take coursework giving them the theoretical depth required to pursue graduate degrees. In recognition of the interdisciplinary nature of statistics, coursework in other disciplines such as biological, environmental, or social sciences can be undertaken, depending on the student?s interests. Since statistical practice routinely involves computers, the use of standard statistical software is integrated into most courses. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides programs in mathematics and statistics that prepare students for careers in education, business, industry or government and for graduate studies. In the Bachelor and Master of Science degree programs, both theory and applications from the sciences, industry and management are stressed in course work from pure and applied mathematics, operations research, and statistics. The options of the Bachelor of Arts mathematics program provide students the opportunity to acquire a strong background in mathematics as well as to obtain teacher licensure in mathematics at the secondary level. Minor programs in both mathematics and statistics are structured introductions to the mathematical sciences for students of other disciplines. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships
