About the course

As a sociology major, you?ll study how humans relate to one another and why they thrive and flounder in different societies. This concentration is designed for students who want to work with children, teens, and young adults in various settings. You'll explore the transformative power of education, relationship-building, and effective programming to positively impact youth development. This concentration is designed to prepare students for careers in education-related fields, nonprofit agencies, and religious, cultural, and community organizations that specialize in youth outreach and programming. Suffolk underscores the importance of real-world experience. In addition to your coursework, as a junior and senior you'll have the chance to engage in practicums to conduct fieldwork and help underserved segments of the population. Our well-connected faculty help students obtain internships at a wide range of Boston-area sites, including local courts, youth services centers, schools, law firms, hospitals, crisis centers, social service providers, and shelters.
