About the course

Mathematics is an exciting discipline where new idea are constantly developed. Mathematics and statistics are used in practically every area of science, engineering, industry, education and technology. Graduates from the UTC Department of Mathematics learn tools, techniques, and cognitive abilities to tackle existing and emerging problems in these fields. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Mathematics offers the bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics. The B.S. in applied mathematics is a degree program designed to respond to the growing influence of mathematics in business and industrial practices. Students must select a concentration in either general mathematics, actuarial science or STEM Education. The department also offers the option of a math minor.
