About the course
The Department of Mathematics at Howard University was established in 1867 and today offers courses leading to degrees of Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy. If you are interested in mathematics as a major, you should know that a concentration in actuarial science prepares you for the foundations of actuarial practice, which involves statistically calculating risks, premiums, etc. for insurance. Entry requirements for Howard University
Submit Required Documents: All admission documents must be received before a decision can be rendered. All required documents can be viewed under Domestic Admission or International Admission. Unless otherwise noted, electronic submission (i.e. via Common App, an eTranscript system etc.) of documents is preferred. All non FTIC applicants may submit their transcripts electronically, if the college/university has an e-Transcript system. A score of 90 on the Internet based (IBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants whose native language is not English. Only official reports from ETS will be accepted. Note: in lieu of the TOEFL (if not offered in your country), applicants may submit results from IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall score of a 6.5.
