About the course

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science offers undergraduate programs in statistics and actuarial science. The program in statistics prepares students to solve problems in a variety of fields with an emphasis on real-world applications and experience with modern data analysis software. With a degree in statistics, you will be ready to confront big data and make the right decisions. The program in actuarial science provides a strong starting point for a career in actuarial science. This program has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the major professional actuary societies, with courses that provide a strong basis for being successful on the actuarial professional examinations. With a degree in actuarial science, you will be ready to start a rewarding career and advance far. The major also provides the Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) required by the societies if the students complete those courses with a grade of B or better. Entry requirements for Northern Illinois University

High School Diploma: You must have graduated by the time you start at NIU in order to be admitted. Grades: You must have passing grades equivalent to a U.S. C plus average on all transcripts and/or exam scores.The ACT or SAT is required for international freshmen applicants from U.S. high schools.
