About the course

What?s more, you?ll be able to deepen your knowledge and skills in your specialist area. After graduating with a BSc(Hons), it?s possible to progress to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. If you achieve First or Second Class First Division Honours in your BSc(Hons), you?ll be eligible for direct entry to a PhD. Postgraduate study in Applied Mathematics focuses on mathematical and computational models to formulate and solve real-world problems from a variety of areas within science and technology. From analysing the most efficient way to schedule airline routes between cities, to the effects and safety of new drugs, applied maths is a good foundation to apply alongside many other sciences. You will learn how to build mathematical models, how to formulate mathematical ideas for useful modeling, alongside learning about the solutions of models.

  Food Science and Nutrition is the science behind the food we eat. From the effect food has on our behaviour and wellbeing, to new applications in food development, processing, compliance and food safety. Food Science and Nutrition includes courses from Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Medical Science and Population Health, to answer questions like, what constitutes a healthy diet Is there a way to engineer food to improve its nutritional value How does the human body break down food to provide us with the energy we need While food science focuses on manufacturing, processing and production of food, nutrition focuses on the maintenance of good health and the wellbeing of populations. A qualification in Food Science and Nutrition could see you designing new food products that are both convenient and healthy, protecting consumer health through managing compliance, or developing better ways to preserve food.
