About the course

Students in the Theatre (BA, BFA) program share a common first year, taking courses across various fields of theatre and performance. After the first year, students can branch into one of four specializations based on their interests and goals: (1) Acting Conservatory (BFA), (2) Production and Design (BFA), (3) Performance Creation (BFA), and (4) Performance Creation (BFA).

　　Admission to some degree specializations is by audition or interview at the end of first year. Regardless of streams, students work together as actors, production and creative teams. Students planning to pursue graduate studies or teaching degrees are strongly encouraged to take the Theatre BA program.

　　The Production and Design specialization in the Theatre (BFA) program features hands-on technical skills with creative aspects of theatre, such as set design, costume construction and stage management. The Production and Design specialization engages students in all elements of theatrical design and stage production. How to apply

Entry requirements for York University

You are not required to submit proof of English proficiency language test scores if you have successfully completed or are in the process of successfully completing one of the following -

　　Four full years of study in English or French at an accredited high school in Canada or where English is the official primary language of the country or,

　　Four full years of study at the high-school level where English is the primary language of instruction or,

　　One full year of study in an accredited university degree program in English in a country where English is a primary language or where English is the official language of the institution or

　　Two full years of study in English in an accredited college diploma or applied degree program in a country where English is a primary language or where English is the official language of the institution.

　　International Baccalaureate IB Students who have completed or in the process of completing the IB diploma in English or French may meet our language requirements Students must show achievement of the IB diploma once it has been granted.

　　Applicants with an International Baccalaureate IB Diploma - The University may grant a maximum of 30 credits 5 full courses for Higher Level IB courses with grades of 5 or better.

　　GCE GCSE IGCSE A minimum final grade of B in GCSE IGCSE GCE Ordinary Level English English Language or English as a Second Language OR a minimum final or predicted grade of C in GCE A Level or AS Level or sAICE English or English Language.
