About the course
The show must go on – and it usually does, thanks to stage management professionals From assisting the director in the rehearsal process, to calling scene changes and lighting cues during a performance, the stage manager is the essential team leader of any production. This program revolves around core stage management classes, practical projects and coursework, all of which solidify students&apos, background in theatre history, theatre practices, theatre design, genres and theories. You’ll also develop excellent communication and organizational skills through participation in class work and department productions.The Drama major, taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree, studies the way theatre creates cultural, social, and political meaning with the help of a faculty of experts who are professionals in their field. You will be exposed to every aspect of the theatrical process, including courses in acting, directing, and playwriting, while combining theory and practice through hands-on projects. In Drama you will be provided the opportunity to learn from local experts from the Edmonton theatre community and to participate in rewarding faculty research projects. Entry requirements for University of Alberta
Admission is based on your complete academic history and achievement in three main areas: your grades, your English proficiency, and completion of required subjects. English Language Proficiency requirements - TOEFL iBT: At least 90 with a minimum score of 21 points in each section. PBT is no longer accepted. IELTS - At least 6.5 with no band less than 5.5.
