Simon Fraser University is recognized around the world for academic excellence, innovation, and sustainability. It is consistently ranked among the top research universities in Canada and as one of the top 250 universities in the world and with more than 170,000 alumni spanning the country and globe, SFU’s impact in every facet of life is far-reaching.

With vibrant campuses in British Columbia’s three largest cities Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver, SFU is not just shaping minds, they are also shaping communities. Established in 1965 on Burnaby Mountain, SFU was renowned in those early years as the “radical campus” for their students’ activism. Today, the campus houses the majority of the world-class academic and research infrastructure.

SFU is distinguished by the extraordinary variety of educational and learning opportunities they offer to students both on campus and in the community. As a result, their students graduate with the skills they need to succeed, contribute to the community and fulfill their potential. The University offers a wide variety of program options for students to build their own undergraduate degree. Students can combine majors, minors and certificates to create an experience unique to them. All eight faculties offer master’s and doctoral degrees.

SFU’s comprehensive co-op education program is one of Canada’s first and now one of its largest, has placed over 8,500 students in jobs with global corporations. Students gain valuable experiential learning from a broad selection of local and international field schools and exchanges, undergraduate student research awards, volunteer stewardship activities, and leadership training

The Vancouver campus opened in 1989 to foster connections with the business community and meet the educational demands of working professionals. Known today as the intellectual heart of the city, it encompasses nine sites that include a multi-venue arts and culture space, a centre for dialogue and our graduate school of business.

SFU’s youngest campus in Surrey opened in 2002, extending their community outreach into B.C.’s fastest-growing city where they have established some of their most cutting-edge initiatives such as the Quantum Algorithm Institute, the Sustainable Energy Engineering program and the School of Interactive Arts and Technology.
