It is located in East Lansing, a globally minded community at the center of the state with a population of nearly 50,000. The city’s business district and residential sections lie north of Grand River Avenue, a commercial thoroughfare which, with Michigan Avenue, forms the northern campus boundary. The city is well connected with local transportation assets, including Amtrak rail service and intercity bus services, both operating from a depot near the campus’s western side, and community and campus bus service operated by the Capital Area Transit Authority.
