About the course

Food production and quality is becoming increasingly important globally. Consumers want foods that are new and exciting, while also being nutritious, safe, tasty, convenient and produced in an environmentally responsible manner. Food companies need to cost-effectively produce foods that meet increasingly diverse market needs. Regulatory agencies insist foods conform to legislation around composition and safety. The challenge for the food scientist is to blend biology, chemistry, consumer research and nutrition to solve the problems of developing a safe, healthy, sustainable and nutritious food supply for people everywhere. How to apply

Entry requirements for The University of Otago

You are required to provide scanned copies of your previous official academic transcripts (awards gained, marks, grades) with your application. A four-year honours degree or postgraduate diploma, and a two-year programme for candidates with a standard bachelor’s degree., IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.5 in the academic module (with no individual band below 6.0)., Paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 587 with TWE (Test of Written English) 4.5. Internet-based TOEFL score of 95 with a minimum writing score of 22. The Otago International School requires incoming international students to have studied at least one year at an accredited tertiary institution and a hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 minimum (USA/Canada), or have “credit”, “good”, or above average results.
