About the course

The School of Education offers a certificate program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), which is designed to meet the needs of students desiring to teach English in a variety of settings throughout the world. Specialized coursework in the certificate program focuses on theories and methodologies of TESOL while providing practical classroom experience. The coursework may also be used to satisfy some of the requirements for the Master of Science in Education (M.S. Ed.) in Educational Studies for those students admitted into the M.S. Ed. program. How to apply

Entry requirements for Western Illinois University

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an institution that is accredited by the appropriate U.S. Department of Education’s regional accrediting agency.

　　TOEFL Internet-based (IBT): 73, TOEFL Paper-based (PBT): 533, For IELTS, a minimum score of 6.0 overall bands is required.
