About the course
Develop as a highly qualified, effective and confident teacher of science with a specialism in physics. Throughout your PGCE course, you study with an experienced, specialist team, gaining the knowledge and skills you need to teach scientific concepts in a variety of inspiring ways. Science is an exciting, rapidly progressing subject that is challenging to teach. This largely school-based course is designed to give you the subject-specific knowledge, secure understanding of educational theory and practical teaching skills to lead learning, initiate change, and thrive as a teacher. You attend subject-specific sessions, lectures and seminars designed to develop your awareness and understanding of the nature and content of the science curriculum, professional issues, and practical aspects of teaching such as planning and assessment. During the course, you spend around 70 percent of your time in placement schools where you develop the skills and experience necessary to teach scientific concepts. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Bedfordshire
Normally a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent in the subject for which you are applying to teach or a degree of which at least 50 percent is in that subject
A levels in the subject and related subjects are desirable
A standard equivalent to a grade 4 (or GCSE A to C) in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics.
Meet all safeguarding requirements including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check, Fitness to Practice, Suitability to Train to Teach, and all other safeguarding checks required at the time of application
IELTS - overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each element
TOEFL iBT - overall score 72 (Listening- 17, Reading- 18, Speaking- 20, Writing- 17)
