About the course
We live and work in a world that is linguistically and culturally diverse meaning there is a demand for strong linguists with a combination of interpreting and translating skills to support the growing complexity of international communication. Master a set of marketable skills to a professional standard with this flexible programme which offers to develop your understanding and application of translation and interpreting theories and techniques as well as equips you with expertise in conference and public service interpreting.
This programme aims to build on students' existing language skills transforming strong linguists into highly employable translators and interpreters, providing the extensive professional skills required to meet the needs of the translation and interpreting industry.
Students will be given the opportunity to work with Mandarin, from and into English, whilst specialising in translation and interpreting, opening the way to specific careers such as conference and public service interpreting, professional in-house or freelance translators and interpreters. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Aberdeen
Candidates are required to have a First or Upper Second class honours degree or its overseas equivalent in one of the languages offered in the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, or a 2.2 with professional experience in interpreting (candidates with substantial experience as a professional interpreter but no degree will also be considered).
IELTS Academic: OVERALL - 6.5 with: Listening - 5.5, Reading - 6.0, Speaking - 5.5, Writing - 6.0
TOEFL iBT: OVERALL - 90 with: Listening - 17, Reading - 21, Speaking - 20, Writing - 21
