About the course

Our unique course blends project evaluation techniques and business enterprise with awareness of the potential of renewable energy technologies.

  This multi-disciplinary MSc is for both practising professionals and graduates. You'll come from a diverse range of disciplines including: geography, planning, surveying, business, economics, social policy, politics, product design, industrial management

  environmental management, physical or earth science, engineering

  Our MSc Renewable Energy course supports those without prior technical education in energy. Bring your curiosity for innovation and design and learn how to identify opportunities in the renewable energy field. Together we'll concentrate on some of the biggest challenges we face in the sector. We'll also help develop your enterprise, culture, and capability.

  We're at the forefront of carbon neutrality and net zero research, with a strong focus on the benefits of renewable energy.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Newcastle University

A 2:2 honours degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant subject such as:

  geography

  planning

  surveying

  business

  economics

  social policy

  politics

  product design

  industrial management

  environmental management

  physical or earth sciences

  You do not need prior engineering or physical science education or experience. If you don't have this, you must be prepared to learn about the science of energy. This includes appreciating how renewable energy technology interacts with economic, environmental, social, political and business issues.

  We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have lower or non-standard qualifications and significant, relevant industry experience.

  Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub-skills). TOEFL IBT: score of 90 with a minimum of Reading - 18, Writing - 17, Listening - 17, Speaking - 20.
