Develop a strong mathematical foundation in data science and statistics together with specialist knowledge for a career in the global healthcare industry.

　　Data science, statistics and machine learning are revolutionising healthcare. These methodologies are improving our understanding of disease cause and progression, influencing clinical and governmental decision-making, and rapidly becoming vital components of the modern healthcare system.

　　This course will equip you with the analytic skills sought after by employers such as pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and healthcare analytics companies. You’ll study the fundamentals of data science, machine learning, statistics and statistical modelling, alongside programming in both Python and R. You’ll gain extensive practical experience of how to interpret, analyse and evaluate data in healthcare applications through a bespoke year-long unit in Data Science and Statistics for Health and a summer research project. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Bath

To apply for this course you should have a first or strong second-class undergraduate degree or equivalent international equivalent.

　　Your undergraduate degree may be in a programme that incorporates a strong element of both mathematics and computing such as mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering or economics. Any such degree programme should have included some non-trivial element of programming instruction.

　　We will also consider other subjects, for example geography or biology, which might also meet the criteria depending on their specific mathematical and programming content.

　　We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.

　　If your first language is not English but within the last 2 years you completed your degree in the UK you may be exempt from our English language requirements.

　　IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components

　　TOEFL IBT: 90 overall with a minimum 21 in all 4 components
