About the course

Environmental Futures (MSc) provides multidisciplinary knowledge and expertise on the complex and challenging geophysical and environmental issues facing communities across the globe. It focuses on the dynamism of the Earth’s surface, atmosphere and hydrosphere, and considers their influence on processes that sustain life at a wide range of spatial and temporal scales.

  The programme allows students to organise their studies towards key areas of interest including: climate, risk and land use change, developing in-depth and critical understanding of contemporary global issues in crustal and surface interactions, and biogeochemical interactions in organic and inorganic systems. Students will be trained in cutting-edge analytical equipment, computational methods and advanced field techniques. The programme is ideal for those keen to pursue a professional career or research in the study of geophysical and environmental challenges. Evaluate contempory environmental and geophysical issues. Learn from leading researchers through a diverse range of teaching modes and environments. Engage with current sustainability challenges Work collaboratively with local or international partners Develop key applied skills through research-intensive training Demonstrate attainment via innovative assessments. Modes of delivery of the Environmental Futures MSc include seminars, lectures, tutorials, field work, work placements, independent projects, computer lab work, team work and UK field trips.

  This programme is 'challenge-led' and interdisciplinary, equipping students with skills to work across sectors to address environmental issues. Through the diverse subjects offered and the multi-prongued programme approach, students can tailor their learning direction to gain knowledge, skills and experience to be well qualified for positions in: environmental management, protection and restoration, environmental governance and planning, academia, international non-governmental organisations. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Glasgow

A First or upper second class Honours degree in a relevant environmental or geographical discipline. IELTS - 6.5 with 2 sub-tests at 6.5 and 2 sub-tests at 6.0. TOEFL (ib, my best or athome) - 90 with minimum R 20, L 19, S 19, W 23.
