About the course
Develop a strong foundation in the theory and practice of data science, and learn specialist skills in statistics ready for a career in industry. Data science is increasingly important to the global economy and is influencing scientific progress across numerous fields from bioscience, to energy and telecommunications. We'll provide you with the tools to become an industry expert with a strong mathematical foundation. This course is designed for graduates who have limited experience of statistics and would like to develop their knowledge in this area. The first semester will give you general programming and machine learning development skills. The second semester is focused on statistics, and will give you the skills and knowledge to challenge real-world data using more advanced analytical techniques. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Bath
To apply for this course you should have a first or strong second-class undergraduate degree or equivalent international equivalent.
Your undergraduate degree may be in a programme that incorporates a strong element of both mathematics and computing such as mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering or economics. Any such degree programme should have included some non-trivial element of programming instruction.
We will also consider other subjects, for example geography or biology, which might also meet the criteria depending on their specific mathematical and programming content.
We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.
If your first language is not English but within the last 2 years, you completed your degree in the UK, you may be exempt from our English language requirements.
IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components
TOEFL IBT: 90 overall with a minimum 21 in all 4 components
