About the course
This twelve month chemistry MSc is designed as a preparation for PhD studies or for students wishing to broaden their research experience and knowledge of chemistry. The programme consists of taught modules, worth a total of 90 credits, delivered in the first six months of the course followed by a substantial research project, also worth 90 credits. The taught modules in Semester 1 will cover all areas of chemistry at core and advanced level. In addition a module specially designed to improve scientific language, research and presentation skills will be available. In the second semester students can choose six from a broad range of nine taught modules covering advanced chemistry topics. The research project is chosen from a wide range of world-leading research groups within the department with the work being carried out within the individual research group laboratories. Entry requirements for University of Manchester
The standard academic entry requirements for a Master's programme will be a minimum of a good 2(ii) UK honours degree, or international equivalent, in chemistry, covering all the core areas of organic, inorganic, physical and analytical/laboratory chemistry. Students possessing The University of Manchester BSc or MChem degree should not apply. IELTS or TOEFL and attain a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with no sub test less than 5.5) or TOEFL IBT 90 (with no less than 22 in each component).
