About the course

The MPH (Global Health) is a strand of the Master in Public Health programme and is aimed at professionals already working, or aiming to work, in healthcare settings in low-and middle-income countries.

  The MPH (Global Health) is an exit qualification from our Master Public Health (MPH) programme. Applications for the MPH (Global Health) strand are made through the standard Master in Public Health programme.

  This modular, multidisciplinary programme in public health offers a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or a Masters qualification. It is an exciting and engaging programme developed in response to demand from public health professionals around the world, and delivered by global academic and field experts in public health and health systems. The course builds upon our well-established and successful Master of Public Health through the addition of modules that contextualise and apply public health topics and skills in relation to low- and middle- income countries. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Birmingham

This programme is open to those with a good first degree in any subject of relevance to public health, this includes most biological sciences. Applications are also welcome from UK medical students who wish to intercalate. For the diploma, applications are also accepted from those with a relevant professional qualification or sufficient Public Health experience at the appropriate level without a primary degree, e.g. registered nurses. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact the course administrator.

  English to IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.5 in each component) or TOEFL Internet based 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band. , University of Birmingham graduates do not need to provide transcripts or copies of degree certificates, however we advise applicants who graduated prior to 2000 to provide copies of their qualifications as they may take longer to verify. Personal statement, approximately 5000 characters, explaining why you are interested in studying on your chosen programme. This can be uploaded to the personal statement section in PDF or Microsoft Word format. Alternatively, you can type this within the application portal. On your application, you will be asked to supply contact details of two academic referees (or one academic reference if applicable to the course/programme appled for). Employment references may be acceptable for certain courses which require them.
