About the course

This modular, multidisciplinary programme in public health is designed to provide academic training to professionals currently working in, or who wish to work in, the public health field.

　　The programme covers most aspects of population health and the disciplines underlying the practice of public health: epidemiology, applied health research methods and statistics, health economics, health information and informatics, healthcare public health and health service management, health improvement and health protection, and global health. As well as practising clinicians and those working in public health roles, the course may be of considerable value for those involved (or thinking about becoming involved) in planning and commissioning roles in health services, and life sciences industries, where a knowledge of population health and research methods is highly valued. Its modular nature allows you the flexibility to shape the programme to fit your needs. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Birmingham

This programme is open to those with a good first degree in any subject of relevance to public health, this includes most biological sciences. Applications are also welcome from UK medical students who wish to intercalate. For the diploma, applications are also accepted from those with a relevant professional qualification or sufficient Public Health experience at the appropriate level without a primary degree, e.g. registered nurses. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact the course administrator.

　　English to IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.5 in each component) or TOEFL Internet based 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band. , University of Birmingham graduates do not need to provide transcripts or copies of degree certificates, however we advise applicants who graduated prior to 2000 to provide copies of their qualifications as they may take longer to verify. Personal statement, approximately 5000 characters, explaining why you are interested in studying on your chosen programme. This can be uploaded to the personal statement section in PDF or Microsoft Word format. Alternatively, you can type this within the application portal. On your application, you will be asked to supply contact details of two academic referees (or one academic reference if applicable to the course/programme appled for). Employment references may be acceptable for certain courses which require them.
