The Communications Engineering MSc programme covers a wide range of topics in communication engineering and provides options from outside the core specialism.
You will study core modules covering advanced specialist topics, plus cross-programme modules allowing you to specialise in your chosen area, along with an individual research project – which is sometimes undertaken in collaboration with industry.
As well as acquiring specialist technical knowledge, you will develop generic skills such as: interpreting requirements and specifications to produce effective design solutions, making decisions on the basis of incomplete information, giving technical presentations, and working in a team. Entry requirements for University of Birmingham
A 2:1 Honours degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computing or Physics , IELTS - 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band, TOEFL - 80 overall with no less than 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking and 19 in Writing , University of Birmingham graduates do not need to provide transcripts or copies of degree certificates, however we advise applicants who graduated prior to 2000 to provide copies of their qualifications as they may take longer to verify. Personal statement, approximately 5000 characters, explaining why you are interested in studying on your chosen programme. This can be uploaded to the personal statement section in PDF or Microsoft Word format. Alternatively, you can type this within the application portal. On your application, you will be asked to supply contact details of two academic referees (or one academic reference if applicable to the course/programme appled for). Employment references may be acceptable for certain courses which require them.
