About the course

The Master of Wildlife Management (MWLM) degree is a three-semester 180-point postgraduate degree designed to train students with the skills necessary for employment in some aspect of wildlife or ecological management or research.University of Otago is one of New Zealand’s leading research-oriented universities and provides an excellent base for wildlife studies, being within easy reach of largely untouched mountains, fiords, rainforests and wetlands, as well as landscapes modified by agriculture. There are a number of rare or threatened species within a few kilometres of the campus, including albatross, yellow-eyed penguins, native passerines and skinks. The University has a concentration of ecologists active in research on wildlife species and endangered habitats. University staff maintain strong links with conservation and research agencies, both within New Zealand and internationally.

How to apply

Entry requirements for The University of Otago

You are required to provide scanned copies of your previous official academic transcripts (awards gained, marks, grades) with your application. A four-year honours degree or postgraduate diploma, and a two-year programme for candidates with a standard bachelor’s degree., IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.5 in the academic module (with no individual band below 6.0)., Paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 587 with TWE (Test of Written English) 4.5. Internet-based TOEFL score of 95 with a minimum writing score of 22. The Otago International School requires incoming international students to have studied at least one year at an accredited tertiary institution and a hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 minimum (USA/Canada), or have “credit”, “good”, or above average results.
