About the course

Our Master of Science in Software and Security Engineering (MSSSE) program is a degree program with an emphasis on advanced security and software engineering concepts including information and computer security, software design and quality assurance methodologies, and practices in security and software production. It is designed to provide both fundamental and practical knowledge for students who want to pursue careers in industry as software engineers and/or security engineers as well as those who want to advance their knowledge in the field as researchers in security and software engineering. The MSSSE program has replaced the prior Master of Science in Software Engineering (MSSE) program, which has stopped accepting new applicants.

　　Students will learn issues and methodologies to help them specify, develop, test, maintain and manage complex software systems and security systems. Because security and software today are often embedded in and interacts with a variety of systems, our program also aims to broaden student knowledge in relevant fields. Specifically, the program incorporates security and software engineering concepts in the context of system requirements and system engineering that considers integrated aspects of physical artifacts, software, human factors, economic, and application domains. How to apply

Entry requirements for Texas Tech University

All applicants must provide transcripts for each degree-awarding post-secondary college or university attended.

　　Transcripts must contain a record of all courses taken and all grades received - This includes mark sheets, examination results, etc.

　　All applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution in the United States or its equivalent from a foreign institution. Non-US institutions must be recognized by their government/government ministry or department to award undergraduate and/or post-graduate degrees.

　　All documents submitted with the application are considered to be unofficial. If admitted, the applicant will be required to submit official transcripts, diplomas/degree certificates, English translations, and test scores by the 12th class day of the term to which the applicant is admitted.

　　All international applicants must be in good academic standing at any school they are currently attending. All international applicants must have been in good standing in all schools they previously attended at their final matriculation. If the degree is not complete when the application is made, six semesters or three years of course work are required.

　　IELTS - minimum required score is an overall band score of 6.5 on the Academic version.

　　TOEFL iBT - minimum score required is 79.

　　TOEFL PBT - minimum required score is 550.
