About the course
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas Tech University invites applications for graduate study in physics, leading to a masters and/or doctoral degree. Financial support is available in the form of teaching or research assistantships with competitive stipends. The department is also able to award departmental scholarships to students who qualify. Entry requirements for Texas Tech University
The admissions requirements for the Department of Physics are holistic, in the sense that we have a goal of evaluating the whole of the applicant's qualifications, without imposing firm, arbitrary cutoffs on particular test scores. However, we have expectations that a prospective student will have
Taken the Advanced GRE exam in Physics (provisional admission is possible before the exam is taken)
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited US college/university or a recognized equivalent degree from a non-US university recognized by the appropriate government entity in that country to award undergraduate degrees.
The applicant will be required to submit official transcripts, diplomas/degree certificates, and test scores by the twelfth class day of the term to which the applicant is admitted.
If an international applicant, scored over 580 on the TOEFL (213 on the new scale)
Maintained a grade point average of 2.8/4.0 or better in their last 60 hours.
