About the course

The MSc program is offered in both Geology and Geophysics, and involves courses and a thesis. The MSc can be completed in two years of full-time study. Graduates of Memorial?s Department of Earth Sciences have gone on to careers in academia, government, and the private sector. The Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is an excellent natural laboratory in which to study Earth Sciences and many of our courses have field-based components. The cross-section of geology that can be studied in Newfoundland and Labrador is unparalleled and spans a large part of Earth?s history. How to apply

Entry requirements for Memorial University of Newfoundland

Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study

　　Students who have completed secondary schooling, an undergraduate program, or a graduate program at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English will normally not require an English proficiency test. If the institution is located outside of Canada and/or the language of instruction is not clearly indicated on the official transcript, applicants are advised to provide a letter from their university stating the language of instruction.

　　TOEFL - Paper-based score of 550 or higher, or Internet-based with a score of 80 or higher.

　　IELTS - An average band score of 6.5 or higher on the academic test.
