About the course
Through innovative teaching, research, and service, the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation empowers society and its future leaders to better understand and more effectively conserve, restore, and sustain complex social-ecological systems in the Rocky Mountains and beyond.W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation faculty members represent the full range of natural resource disciplines, from resource management and social sciences to physical and biological sciences. Faculty research is published in prominent peer-reviewed journals and address the most pressing natural resource issues of today. Additionally, faculty actively advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, support our ten student clubs, participate in other service to the state of Montana and local organizations, and serve as leaders in their professional organizations.
M.S. in Forestry if you are interested in studying topics like forest ecology, biometrics, ecological modeling, forest management and operations, ecological restoration, or watershed management. As with all three of our master's degrees, you must be accepted to study with a faculty advisor before you can be admitted to our graduate programs. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Montana
Applicants must provide transcripts of all previous college work. Unofficial transcripts can be submitted for application review. Accepted applicants will be asked to provide an official transcript showing all degrees received. Applicants already enrolled in or who have received a degree from UM do not need to submit a transcript. Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for M.S. programs and 3.5 in graduate work for PhD programs.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores of 153 Verbal, 148 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical for tests taken after August 1, 2011.
For GREs taken prior to August 1, 2011 the minimum scores are 500 Verbal, 600 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical.
For applicants whose native language is not English, the minimum TOEFL score is 79 for internet-based tests, 215 for computer-based tests, and 550 for paper-based tests.
