About the course

The MS in environmental science draws upon course work from Huxley College and the other colleges of WWU. It is directed toward the development and integration of scientific information in order to describe, predict and/or manage natural systems, and to assess human impacts on those systems. This specialization focuses on the transport, fate and toxic effects of chemicals in the environment, laboratory testing and field work, chemical analytical measurement of pollutants and the influence of nutritional factors on pollutant toxicity. 　　Within the application you will be prompted to upload an unofficial transcript from each institution attended.

　　You must complete either the TOEFL or IELTS exam and satisfy the minimum score requirement to submit your application. Score at or above the minimum TOEFL (86 iBT) or IELTS (7.0).

　　You are required to upload a scanned or electronically generated unofficial transcript from each post-secondary institution attended as part of the application. Provide a copy of your diploma if your transcript does not list the degree awarded. If your degree was earned outside the US or Canada, submit an official course-by-course credential evaluation from World Education Services, Inc. We recommend the WES ICAP product because it eliminates the need to provide an official transcript to our office. You must have earned, or must be in the process of earning, a degree that is equivalent to a four-year U.S. baccalaureate prior to beginning the graduate program. The degree-granting institution must be recognized by the Ministry of Education (or equivalent) in the country where the degree was earned. The Graduate School must receive the GRE or GMAT score reports directly from the Educational Testing Service, and receive the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score reports directly from the Psychological Corporation. Some programs do not require an admissions test if the applicant holds an advanced degree equivalent to the U.S. (master’s, Ph.D, M.D., J.D., etc.)

　　Prerequisites - A bachelor’s degree and college-level course work including a minimum of either: one year of general chemistry plus one quarter or semester of organic chemistry, one year of general biology, one course each in ecology, calculus and statistics, or, one year of general chemistry, one year of physics, two courses in calculus, one course in statistics and one additional physical science or engineering course.
