About the course

The Master of Science in Engineering Management was developed to meet the need for professional leaders in engineering and technical settings, with a focus on manufacturing and service operations. It ?bridges the gap? between engineering and management and focuses on leadership and the skills necessary to manage people, money and projects. The program is anchored in the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge from the American Society for Engineering Management.

  Its objectives are:

  To develop leadership capabilities and significant managerial skills to augment the student?s strong technical background.

  To develop advanced analytical and managerial skills and to acquire knowledge in related fields.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Western Michigan University

A candidate for admission to the Master of Science program in Engineering Management must:

  Possess a baccalaureate degree with a major in a technical field such as engineering, technology, mathematics, computer science, or the physical sciences.

  Have completed at least eight hours of mathematics through calculus, eight hours of physics or chemistry, a course in statistics and a course in computer programming. Course work or adequate work experience is also required in the areas of work methods analysis, operations planning and control, and quality control.

  Possess a grade point average of 3.0 or better in the final two years of undergraduate study.

  Submit GRE scores for the General Test.

  Applicants with a grade point average of at least 2.5 in the final two years of undergraduate study will be given probationary admission (non-degree status). They may be granted regular admission after completing nine hours of approved graduate courses toward a M.S. degree in engineering management with a grade of B or better in each course.

  TOEFL Score: 80 iBT, 550 PBT and above

  IELTS Score: 6.5 and above

  An official transcript from the institution from which you received your Bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from institution(s) where any graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed.
