About the course

The Masters program is central to the Ecology Program's mission of excellence in research and education in ecology and environmental biology. Graduate students contribute and design research that advances the science of Ecology and provides answers to real world questions. The integration of basic and applied research also provides students with experience valuable for a diversity of future employment opportunities. How to apply

Entry requirements for San Diego State University

Have earned an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or one approved by a Ministry of Education. A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or about 80%) or higher is required to be considered for admission. TOEFL minimum score of 80 iBT/ 550 PBT, IELTS overall score of 6.5 or higher. Overall undergraduate GPA > 2.85 for the last 60 semester units, and at least 3.0 for all upper division biology courses. General GRE scores should be at least 156 on the Verbal section, 150 on the Quantitative section, and 4.5 on the Analytical section. Analytical Writing has now replaced the Analytical section of the GRE, and students should achieve a score of at least 4.5. A GRE Biology subject test is not required. A Bachelor's degree in Biology or related Field (e.g., Environmental Science, Range Management) from any accredited college or university, with coursework comparable to the undergraduate program in Biology at San Diego State University. Students may be asked to take additional coursework to fill curriculum deficits.
