About the course

The Cybersecurity and Privacy program offers comprehensive knowledge of network-based and system-level attacks and effective countermeasures to ensure that software and cyberinfrastructure are designed and implemented with top-notch security practices. In addition to in-depth knowledge of security mechanisms, standards, and state-of-the-art capabilities, you will also be able to design, develop and operate advanced security techniques and cryptographic systems, which require both a deep understanding of theoretical security concepts and detailed knowledge of security practices.

  Program objective-Describe cybersecurity and privacy mechanisms, standards and state-of-the-art capabilities.

  Describe potential cyber attacks and the actors that might perform them, and apply cyber defense methods to prepare a system to repel attacks.

  Perform security review of applications, systems and infrastructure.

  Design and implement system, network and infrastructure-level solutions to ensure the security and privacy of communications and data against specific security threats, while understanding the trade-offs between security, usability and performance.

  Use standard security terminology to communicate effectively with other cybersecurity professionals.

How to apply

Entry requirements for New Jersey Institute of Technology

To be eligible for admission, a student must have completed an undergraduate degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  To be considered for a master's program at NJIT, you must have completed a four-year accredited Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, and demonstrate strong academic achievement in an appropriate discipline. If your most recent degree was earned at a school outside the United States, you must submit GRE scores as part of your application for admission. Additionally, the following graduate programs require the GRE for all applicants: applied physics, architecture, biology, infrastructure planning, materials science. All full-time applicants pursuing a degree in Newark College of Engineering also require a GRE.

  One letter of recommendation.

  The GMAT or GRE is required for all applicants to graduate programs within the Martin Tuchman School of Management.

  The minimum score required is 79 for the Internet-based TOEFL exam, 213 for the computer-based TOEFL exam, or 550 for the paper-based TOEFL exam. A minimum score of 6.5 with no sub-score lower than 6.0 is required for the IELTS exam.
