About the course
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is concerned with the fundamental aspects of computer science and computer engineering. Degrees are offered in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Research emphases include Algorithms and Complexity, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Computer Architecture and Compilers, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Data Science, Databases and Information Management, Embedded Systems and Software, High-Performance Computing, Programming Systems, Security and Cryptography, Software Engineering, Systems and Networking, VLSI/CAD. CSE's master degree programs are designed to address a variety of post-graduate educational needs. As with our PhD programs, we offer majors in both computer science and computer engineering. Both majors are available in each of our three MS plans: Thesis Plan, Comprehensive Standard Plan, or Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Plan. Course requirements are intended to ensure that students are exposed to (1) fundamental concepts and tools, (2) advanced, up-to-date views in topics outside their area (the Breadth requirement), and (3) a deep, current view of their research or specialization are (the Depth requirement). How to apply
Entry requirements for University of California - San Diego
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or from a recognized university-level academic institution abroad. At least a B average (3.0 GPA) or its equivalent is required for admission. The university-wide minimum TOEFL score required for consideration for graduate admission is 550 for the paper based test (PBT), and 85 for the internet based test (iBT). The university-wide minimum IELTS Academic Training exam score required for consideration for graduate admission is Band Score 7.
