About the course

The department offers graduate programs leading to degrees of Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a major in Computer Science. The Doctor of Philosophy degree may also be earned with computer science as a co-major with some other discipline. Additionally, the department offers a minor for the students majoring in other disciplines. Established research areas include algorithms, artificial intelligence, computational complexity, computer architecture, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer networks, database systems, formal methods, information assurance, machine learning and neural networks, multimedia, operating systems, parallel and distributed computing, programming languages, robotics, and software engineering. How to apply

Entry requirements for Iowa State University

GRE: required. The average successful applicant scores within the 90th percentile on the quantitative portion of the GRE.

　　English proficiency: required. TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for admission. Minimum PBT is 550, iBT 79, IELTS 6.5. We will review without English proficiency scores, but university admissions generally does not issue I-20 documentation without passing scores. Academic Performance: A GPA comparable to a B+ average, or 3.30 out of a possible 4.00, and ranking in the top quartile (25%) of the graduating class.
