About the course

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry website at the University of Memphis. The mission of the Department of Chemistry at The University of Memphis is to provide the citizens of Tennessee, the nation, and the world with access to the methods, theory, and tools of modern chemical science and to maintain academic standards and research programs commensurate with its place in a major urban research university. Concentrations are available in Analytical, Computational, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. The M.S. degree requires 30 hours approved by the student's advisory committee. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Memphis

All prospective graduate students must complete and submit a copy of the general application to the Graduate School at the University of Memphis application in addition to the form below to be considered for admission to Ph.D. and/or M.S. (Chemistry) courses of study.Prerequisites for admission to graduate programs in Chemistry include:

　　Satisfactory record of undergraduate coursework in chemistry

　　GRE general examination* test scores (or departmental waiver**)

　　TOEFL for most international applicants

　　Admission to Graduate School at the University of Memphis

　　* GRE subject exam is not required

　　** Departmental waivers for GRE scores are rarely granted

　　All applicants who will be attending the University on a student visa and who are not native speakers of English and are not graduates of The University of Memphis must supply a minimum score of 550 on the paper, a 210 on the computer-based, or 79 on the internet based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.0.
