About the course

requires 30 credit hours, and can be earned with either the thesis or report options. In the thesis option, 24 hours of course work and 6 hours of thesis are required. The thesis is based on directed research performed by the student. In the report option, 28 hours of course work and 2 hours of report are required. The report is based on a literature review or design project performed by the student. Master's students are expected to be well grounded in the fundamentals of chemical engineering and must successfully complete the following courses (or their equivalents). A candidate for the M.S. degree in chemical engineering must present a treatise setting forth the results of an investigation completed by the student under the direction of a member of the faculty of the department (the thesis adviser). The subject of the investigation will be assigned to the student during the first semester. After completion of the investigation, each student must present an oral defense based on his/her research as part of the requirement for the M.S. degree. How to apply

Entry requirements for Kansas State University

Highly motivated students interested in earning an advanced graduate degree and the research activities of the department are encouraged to apply. All applicants must submit a completed application form, official copies of their undergraduate transcripts, 3 letters of recommendations, official GRE scores and TOEFL scores, if they did not earn their BS degree from an ABET accredited institution.

  A bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the cognizant regional accrediting agency

  Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of coursework.

  Applicants who are submitting iBT TOEFL (internet based) scores must have a minimum total score of 79 with no part score below 20 on the reading, listening, and writing sections.

  Applicants who are submitting paper-based TOEFL (PBT) test scores must have a minimum total score of 550 with no part score below 55 on reading or listening sections and a TWE (Test of Written English) score of 5.0 or higher.

  Applicants who are submitting an IELTS score must have a minimum total score of 6.5 with part scores of 6.5 or higher on the reading, listening, and writing sections.
