Master of Science in Biological Sciences

About the course

Biologists study all aspects of life?from the structure and function of molecules and cells to the behavior and interaction of organisms, communities, and ecosystems. We then apply this knowledge to areas such as medicine, conservation, and agriculture. Our motto, From Molecules to Ecosystems, captures the excitement of discovery and dedication to the scientific process found in our large department. The applications of biology affect the health and well-being of individuals in their societies and the continuation of earth as a balanced ecosystem. We aim to produce informed citizens who not only contribute to the scientific community, but also to the ongoing dialogue concerning the many ethical, social, and political issues that have biological context or consequences. The Department of Biological Sciences offers two on-campus graduate programs: Biological Sciences (M.S. and Ph.D.) ? find out more at biolgradclemson.edu Microbiology (M.S. and Ph.D.) ? find out more at microgradclemson.edu The goals of both programs are to: Develop scientists with strong interdisciplinary skills in research design, critical thinking and communication Develop scientists with expertise in a specific research area We emphasize basic, discovery-based scholarship, but many faculty and graduate students are involved in applied research as well.
