About the course
The Department of Biochemistry offers thesis-based MSc and PhD programs. Students in both programs will graduate with a broad knowledge of biochemistry, as well as detailed knowledge in one or more areas of specialization. Our department aims to develop critical and creative scholars who can effectively communicate with their scientific peers and the broader community, and who are capable of teaching at both an undergraduate and graduate level. We seek to develop scientists who will serve the wider scientific community in terms of their productivity and integrity. Entry requirements for University of Alberta
A four-year baccala.ureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited academic institution (a degree in Biochemistry or a ly related discipline is preferred, but outstanding applicants from more distantly related disciplines are encouraged to apply).A Grade Point Average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (determined from the most recent two years of full-time course work). If you were awarded a degree by an institution that does not use a 4.0 scale. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - score of 550 (paper-based), or a total score of 88 with a score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based). International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Minimum overall band score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 on each band (Academic).
