About the course

The Master of Science degree in Big Data Analytics consists of the completion of 30 units of coursework. Students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.00 in these courses and no less than a C in each course. Students admitted conditionally will be required to take courses in preparation for the Master?s degree that do not fulfill degree requirements, if their conditions warrant. Students may fulfill the culminating experience requirement through Plan A (thesis option) by completing BDA 799A, or through Plan B (non-thesis option) by successfully passing a comprehensive examination. How to apply

Entry requirements for San Diego State University

Have earned an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or one approved by a Ministry of Education. A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or about 80%) or higher is required to be considered for admission. TOEFL minimum score of 80 iBT/ 550 PBT, IELTS overall score of 6.5 or higher. Relevant background (including previous coursework) in business, mathematics, computer science, geographic information systems, digital humanities or related fields. Basic knowledge in computer science/programming, as demonstrated by a grade of C or better in CS 107 or equivalent course, or work experience. Basic knowledge in statistical data analysis, as demonstrated by a grade of C or better in STAT 119 or equivalent course, or work experience. Official transcripts (in sealed envelopes) issued within the last year, from all U.S. colleges and universities attended. Students who previously attended SDSU need only submit transcripts for coursework completed since last attendance. Hard copy SDSU transcripts are not required.
